This year, we, the Comboni Missionary Sisters, joyfully participated in the 25th anniversary of the Catholic Missionary Union (CMU) in England and Wales.
The CMU, the official voice of missionaries—lay, ordained, brothers, and sisters—in England and Wales, has been promoting awareness of the Catholic Church’s global missionary work for over 25 years.
The Eucharist at the centre
Gathered in a London parish alongside priests, religious sisters, and representatives from various missionary institutes, we reflected on a quarter-century of faith, generosity, and dedication to the mission of the Church.
The Eucharist was the heart of the celebration, marked by solemnity, reverence, and the beautiful music of the parish choir.
For us, it was a moving reminder of the unity of the Church in mission and the shared responsibility of religious communities across the world.
Sharing the bread of brotherhood
After the liturgy, we enjoyed a time of fellowship, honouring those who laid the foundations for mission appeals in England 25 years ago. Their vision continues to inspire missionary work today.
This anniversary was also a reminder of the enduring generosity of the faithful in the UK. Their spiritual, moral, and material support allows us to continue proclaiming the Gospel in so many places.
