Greetings! I’m Asma, and I’m thrilled to share my inspiring journey of faith and service with you. From a young age, I was taught the significance of prayer and offering my days to God. This foundation ignited a passion within me to make a tangible difference in the world.
Guided by the Comboni sisters and fathers at the Holy Family Catholic Church, I was captivated by their missionary stories and the selflessness of Saint Daniel Comboni. These experiences inspired me to embrace my faith in action and serve those in need. Seeking guidance from my parish priest, I embarked on a year of discernment, exploring the depths of my calling and listening to God’s voice.
During my studies at the Catholic Institute of Religious Education in Cairo, I had the privilege of working with young refugees from Sudan, Eritrea, and Ethiopia. Their stories of resilience and unwavering faith awakened a profound understanding of the need for compassion and love in our world. These encounters further fueled my desire to serve and make a tangible impact on the lives of others.
Following my discernment journey, I had the opportunity to live and serve in Luxor, Egypt. Through serving in the Coptic Catholic Church of the Archangel Michael, I witnessed firsthand the transformative power of love, prayer, and service. This experience deepened my commitment to put my faith into action, particularly in activities such as catechesis and supporting immigrants through programs that fostered their integration and well-being.
In brief, in my journey of faith and service, I have discovered the transformative power of embracing God’s call and putting it into action. Through encounters with refugees, serving in the church, and engaging with immigrant communities, I have witnessed firsthand the profound impact of love, compassion, and prayer. Despite the challenges faced along the way, I remain steadfast in my commitment to make a tangible difference in the lives of others. As I continue my formation and immerse myself in new experiences, I am reminded that faith without action is incomplete. Let us all strive to be agents of positive change, embodying the words of Saint Daniel Comboni, as we embrace faith in action and serve the world around us.
